Sunscreen Lotion SPF20:
This Sunscreen Lotion SPF20 by Pure nuff Stuff has blended micro-fine Titanium Dioxide with sweet almond oil. It makes a light body lotion that applies smoothly, moisturising as it goes and spreading a layer of sun protection evenly. It’s unscented because so many essential oils are photo-sensitising (in other words, they promote burning of the skin – not the point of this product).
Pure nuff Stuff don’t use nano-particulate Titanium Dioxide. Their micro-fine version sits on the surface of the skin and is unable to sink in, offering you very effective protection. It does mean there’s a very, very slight whitening effect on the surface of the skin, but we think this helps you to make sure it’s evenly applied.
Because this product does not use nano particles of Titanium Oxide, this is the only Sun Screen IT’s Cruelty Free will supply.
When choosing your sun cream & sun protection, it’s helpful to know that there isn’t a recognised standard in terms of the SPF ratings between companies. So, for example, one brand’s SPF10 does not offer exactly the same level of protection as another brand’s SPF10. It’s only a differentiating factor that applies within one company or range. Shocking isn’t it? So it does make it ridiculously hard for consumers to make a properly informed choice.
Testing of the Sunscreen:
Knowing this, Pure nuff Stuff decided to create what they considered would be an effective cream for use on the most sensitive people they knew. So they tested it on Emily first. With her red hair and skin more of a light blue in natural colour than white. She always joked that she burns under Christmas lights. So it was considered to be the best test they could think of. Armed with a bottle, she went off to the beach in the hot Cornish sun and tried out the cream.
They then knew they were on to something good when she didn’t burn. Instead, she actually attained a shade of the lightest brown for the first time in her adult life.
Helen was then confident enough to test it out on herself and her little ones (all four of them, one a baby). Under the same conditions – and, of course, under her constant watchful eye.
So with all this in mind, and with the help of their independent chemist, they decided on the number 20 for the SPF protection, giving you a good indication of the level of protection on offer.
In all seriousness, though, this doesn’t mean that it’s a total sun block.
Normal, sensible precautions DO apply. You should still re-apply the cream liberally and often, always after swimming and always limit your exposure to the sun.

Ticking the boxes……. They believe in the same things We do – high quality, honesty, ethical standards, and all-round personal loveliness.
It’s all natural, too. Everything They make uses only vegetable or mineral ingredients, and they’re extracted as naturally as possible. They use organic and fairly traded sources whenever they can.
Pure nuff Stuff don’t use SLS, parabens, urea, synthetic fragrances or colours, anything from the petrochemical industry, or anything else you’d regard as unnecessarily nasty. They don’t make false claims about anti-ageing or cellulite-burning, either. And they don’t test on animals, unless that’s what you’d call their families and friends (which would be mean).
Everything Pure nuff Stuff make has been certified for safety by an independent laboratory in accordance with UK and EU regulations. Their anti-animal testing policy is clear (they don’t, at all, ever) and they maintain a filed cut-off date of 1995 for all ingredients. And they’re as sustainable as can be, using glass bottles and HDPE – the most recyclable plastic you can get.
Pure nuff Stuff have got nothing to hide. In fact, they’re busily confirming the provenance of every single ingredient that they use.
